The Rev. Don Duer died on July 23rd. Don was a successful architect and an author. They had lived previously in Winter Park, but in the last several years they made Micanopy, Florida their home. One of Don's interests was the history of the "Penny Banks" in our country. He wrote a history of Still and Mechanical Banks, which is a photographic record accompanied by commentary and dates. He was a consultant to many church building committees, giving his valuable time as a part of his understanding of the meaning of stewardship. His wife, Christine was his prayer partner, and we express our love and appreciation for the Duer family to her. Don's diaconate reached across denominational lines. The Episcopal Missionary Church was honored to have him as a deacon, and to have Christine as a part of our extended family. Both Don and Chris sensed the presence of God in Christ Church Monteagle, and were great encouragers, concerning both what we have done with the building and the property too.
